Quality Control Lab Manager

Overview

The Quality Control Manager works directly with the operations leadership team to ensure compliance with USDA and customer requirements. Assists the FSQA Management team by continuing to direct, oversee, and implement the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs to ensure product safety, legality, and quality across multiple plant processes including raw production and packaging. The ideal candidate holds a meat science degree or several years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • This position reports directly to the Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager, and assists in all FSQA functions, with an emphasis on laboratory quality control tests

  • Implement, verify, and validate Food Safety programs such as HAACP plans, SSOP compliance, ensuring adherence to audit standards

  • Manage regulatory relationships with local USDA

  • Supervise and participate in the day-to-day laboratory activities and management of laboratory technicians

  • Provide management, direction, and training for laboratory employees

  • Develop and improve lab practices and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred in a relevant field such as Food Science, Meat/Animal Science, Food Safety, or another related science field)

  • Minimum of 3 years of Food Processing and Quality Management Experience

  • Experience with HACCP, SSOP, and food safety regulations

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
